My Campaign Theme

My campaign theme, and one of my own personal themes, is a vision beyond tomorrow. Citizens of Forks Township must embrace this theme because our community is growing faster than we realize. If we do not look beyond tomorrow, we will be overwhelmed by things we do not like or want in our community.

We were aghast when Gary Strausser cut down the stately maples on Old River Road. This happened in August, and a month later we are still feeling the repercussions of this great loss. Now think for a moment about our community as it is today, and then imagine what it might be like if someone desecrated our remaining areas of natural beauty. As I wrote recently in The Morning Call: “The trees disappeared rapidly, and their absence was apparent immediately. Other changes might be slower and much more insidious.”

As Supervisor, I will be vigilant, watching and investigating proposals our community receives for a business, industry, or development. We want to continue to encourage beneficial businesses and industries. We have been successful, but now the speed has increased. Thus we must look beyond tomorrow to visions of the kind of community we want in the future.

Our Supervisors sent the right message when they voted down a proposal for a cell tower in our park and recreation area. This decision is a distinct example of my campaign theme in action!

I want to know your concerns. It’s easy to contact me. This blog is open to you.  Post here or send email to   begolf2007@rcn.com.
